Every weekend in cities across the country, hundreds of thousands of kids take part in some kind of organized flag football league. In San Jose, several youth flag football programs exist. The largest in the Bay Area, the San Jose NFL Youth League (sjflagfootball.com) has nearly 400 kids. In their Spring 2006 Program, two special needs children signed up to play in the league with the other children. While their confidence and ability enabled them to participate, league organizers realized that there were hundreds of kids just like them who were not able to participate, and want to do something about it.
